1. Why AI Governance?
AI agents (chatbots, code generators, autonomous workflows) create value but also introduce new risks: hallucinations, prompt injection, data leakage, audit trail gaps, and uncontrolled costs. Governance means policies, monitoring, and controls.
2. The 4 Maturity Levels
Level 1: No Controls
AI tools deployed ad-hoc, no usage tracking, no policies. Highest risk.
Level 2: Basic Controls
Usage tracking, basic access controls, model approval lists.
Level 3: Mature Controls
Audit trails, prompt review, data classification, cost monitoring.
Level 4: Intelligent Controls
Automated policy enforcement, anomaly detection, continuous learning.
3. Assess Your Level
4-6 'yes' = Level 3+. 2-3 'yes' = Level 2. 0-1 'yes' = Level 1.
